When EPE’s director of NERC and regulatory compliance joined the military, he did not envision that one day he would work in the energy sector.

“At the time, I expected to become a cattle rancher after my service,” said JC Culberson. “But of course, Texas is just as well known for being an energy leader.”

Culberson served in the United States Marine Corps from 1993 until 1998 as an Arabic Linguist stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

“My military experience really prepared me for my career,” continued Culberson. “In addition to teamwork and leadership skills, I learned how to successfully operate when the plan goes awry.”

Culberson leads the NERC and regulatory compliance team at EPE and boasts a wealth of experience in the areas of transmission operations, RTO/ISO operations and planning, and ERO operations, with extensive NERC compliance consulting expertise related to the Transmission Operator, Reliability Coordinator, Balancing Authority, Transmission Owner, Transmission Planner, Generator Owner, and Generator Operator functional entities.
