Challenge
NV Energy sought to develop a comprehensive Transportation Electrification Plan to facilitate the transition to electric vehicles for all customers across Nevada.
The complexity of the plan demanded the integration of multiple aspects like rate designs, technical requirements, customer education, and more. The challenge was to ensure that all these components were well-aligned with the needs of the customers, regulatory requirements, and were effective in accelerating the electrification of transportation, all while ensuring benefits to the grid.
Approach
EPE, leveraging their team's years of experience, formulated an inclusive Transportation Electrification Plan for NV Energy.
The plan outlined programs, investments, and incentives for transportation electrification acceleration, identifying crucial aspects such as rate designs, technical requirements, supporting management systems, customer education, workforce development, and regulatory reporting.
EPE also led the utility program benchmarking and design for a Managed EV Charging Program for residential and commercial charging stations. They provided technical advisory services to commercial customers, including individual site assessments for charging infrastructure deployment. The team also prepared multiple RFP packages for EPC services, EV charging equipment, and cloud-based software for charging stations.
