Background
EPE conducted a due diligence analysis on several wind projects under development within the SPP footprint. The analysis aimed to assess the interconnection plans, studies, and markets for these projects.
Challenge
The objective was to identify any fatal flaws in the grid interconnection process, transmission grid export capability, and associated market delivery costs that could hinder the viability of these wind projects.
Approach
- Gathering information
- from wind project owners and public sources, such as the relevant regional transmission organizations (RTOs).
- Verifying
- the accuracy and currency of the gathered data.
- Evaluating
- the contents of interconnection studies and transmission service studies.
- Contacting
- the corresponding RTOs when necessary for clarification or additional information.
- Reviewing
- interconnection requests and transmission service requests.
Outcome
EPE provided final recommendations on the most attractive wind projects, helping stakeholders focus on projects worth further consideration.
