ERCOT Introduces Large Load QSA Process Ahead of Upcoming Energizations

By Farid Ishak

During the October Large Load Working Group (LLWG) meeting, ERCOT introduced a new Large Load Queue Status Assessment (QSA) process to support the growing number of large loads preparing for energization through the end of 2025 and into 2026. This marks one of the first times ERCOT has published a structured QSA framework for tracking readiness and energization status for loads 75 MW and above.

With several major data center, industrial, and large electronic load (LEL) projects expected to enter service between late 2025 and September 2026, the Large Load QSA provides developers, TSPs, and market participants with a clearer view of upcoming milestones, technical prerequisites, and ERCOT’s expectations as the system prepares for a rapid wave of high-demand projects.

The upcoming Large Load QSA Timeline can be found in the table below:

What Comes Next

ERCOT expects to release the official Large Load QSA in February 2026, which will replace the interim process and provide a standardized, transparent pathway for Large Load QSA readiness, modeling requirements, and energization sequencing.

With large load growth continuing across ERCOT, this new QSA process represents an important forward step toward structured grid integration, better visibility, and improved reliability outcomes for both developers and system operators.
