ERCOT recently announced several important updates to enhance processes and compliance efficiency across multiple domains. These developments reflect ERCOT’s commitment to streamlining operational workflows, improving data submission practices, and ensuring transparency. Below is a summary of the latest changes and updates.
If your project in ERCOT is scheduled to start injecting power in Q4 2025, you’ll need to target the May 1, 2025, QSA. Pursuant to the approval of Planning Guide Revision Request 112 (PGRR112) on July 25, 2024, and its effective date of December 1, 2024, these projects must have their Full Interconnection Studies approved by ERCOT and their PSSE and PSCAD Dynamic Models submitted by March 17, 2025. Missing this QSA deadline will automatically delay your project’s synchronization date to the next quarter.
What are you waiting for? Contact EPE today to ensure your project meets all ERCOT requirements and QSA prerequisites. Our subject matter experts are ready to provide comprehensive support throughout the interconnection process.
ERCOT’s Resource Integration team now requires interconnecting entities to submit a detailed checklist to confirm all QSA-related requirements are met:
Both checklists must be submitted alongside the dynamic model and final QSA submissions for ERCOT’s review before the deadline.
Please note that, as part of this new initiative, ERCOT’s Resource Integration team will no longer send initial QSA status emails.
This PGRR improves transparency in generation interconnection facility costs by including the financial security amount in ERCOT’s monthly GIS report.
Resource entities and interconnecting entities are now required to provide the financial security amount as a change request in RIOO-IS within 10 business days of providing the transmission service provider with the notice to proceed and financial commitment for interconnection.
The financial security amount can be redacted if it is redacted in the public version of the SGIA filed with the Public Utility Commission of Texas.
ERCOT is advancing with the migration of combination models to single-model energy storage resources.
The remaining conversions are targeted for completion in Q1 2025.
As ERCOT implements these changes, it is crucial for resource entities to stay informed and adaptable. Understanding and integrating these changes into your project plans can prevent delays and ensure compliance with ERCOT’s evolving guidelines.
